In many ways, ArtPrize is like a mini functional internet brought to life. At its core, it’s a technology organization.

Mobile app and web technologies shaped the ArtPrize visitor experience in 2014.

ArtPrize is independently organized through a sophisticated platform on Venues large and small, indoors and out offered their spaces to host contemporary art, and Artists from around the world registered their work to compete for the world’s largest art prize. They then found each other and connected through the ArtPrize platform, giving shape to the 2014 event.

Over 100,000 visitors downloaded the ArtPrize 2014 mobile app, developed for both iOS and Android users. 398,714 votes were cast for contemporary art during the 19-day event, and the mobile app proved to be the public’s preferred way to vote for their favorite entries.

The mobile app integrated several new audience engagement features in 2014, including a Discover view offering continually updated ArtPrize blog and event information, updated venue and entry profiles, and the ability to search for venues near a specific location.

The addition of Listing and Routing features transformed the way that visitors discovered art and experienced the sixth annual event. Visitors explored the event more comprehensively, ventured off the beaten path and created their own ArtPrize experience.
