In April of 2009, we announced the very first ArtPrize in the belief that — when you open doors to everyone and offer a platform of tools and incentives to help connect and create — an ecosystem would emerge. That hypothesis was confirmed in the very first year, when I stood alongside hundreds of thousands of you, stunned to see just how well it worked.

Along the way, I’ve learned that once an ecosystem forms, no matter its size or influence, there are some keys to its success and longevity. At ArtPrize, this can be seen in our Mission and Guiding Principles. At Start Garden it can be seen in the Entrepreneur Ecosystem Initiative, built on the belief that a culture of entrepreneurship raises the tide for all entrepreneurs.

With the tenth ArtPrize event on the horizon, I’m filled with a sense of pride and gratitude. What I’ve learned from the exhilarating chaos and charm of ArtPrize is that diverse ecosystems are always the strongest ones. Within them lies myriad opinions amongst diverse voices, groundbreaking creativity and the type of innovation only seen when collaboration resolves conflict.
As long as we maintain civil and inclusive forums like ArtPrize for debate, creativity, innovation and collaboration, we will all continue to learn from each other and continue to grow together.

Thank you for everything you do to make ArtPrize what it is today.
