While walking the Pantone Pathways and exploring off the beaten path at ArtPrize, visitors had the opportunity to join in the Art Meets Heart Steps Challenge - presented by Wolverine Worldwide with programming support from the American Heart Association - to win heart healthy prizes for walking 10,000 or more steps at the event. 18% of ArtPrize visitors used a pathway each day, walking an average of 2.2 miles during their visits to ArtPrize. At 2,112 steps per mile, those visitors walked 4,688 steps per day for a collective total of 23,537,168 steps each and every day of the event.

Art viewing is fun at ArtPrize. But we know that experiences with art are good for your mind, body and spirit too. New in 2017, we partnered with friends and experts in the field of meditation and yoga to launch ArtPrize+ – free events celebrating the intersection of art, mind and movement. Over 500 visitors participated in experiences such as yoga on the Blue Bridge and at DeVos Place (pictured here) in collaboration with Funky Buddha Yoga Hothouse; morning meditation at the ArtPrize Clubhouse sponsored by Deloitte; and Thai Chi in Ah-Nab-Awen Park led by From the Heart Yoga and Tai Chi Center.

With the ArtPrize district covering three square miles of downtown Grand Rapids, the six Pantone Pathways - presented by X-Rite Pantone - offered visitors the opportunity to step outside of their comfort zones and explore new parts of our city. Each Pathway took visitors through one of Grand Rapids’ distinct neighborhoods, highlighting its character as well as local businesses and featured venues and activities. Each Pathway was 2.4 miles or less and led visitors past 90% of ArtPrize Nine venues.

ArtPrize encourages biking to and around the event and set up a bike corral at HUB/HQ as well as just outside of our VIP Clubhouse. Additionally, DGRI offers bike fix-it stations around downtown.
