ArtPrize is truly a collaborative effort and depends on a wide net of supporters coming together to create an unforgettable experience for visitors from around the world.
Large and small, indoors and out, ArtPrize Venues open their spaces to host artwork and visitors from around the world each year. In 2016, 170 Venues curated their spaces, hosting 1,453 pieces of artwork.
ArtPrize works with many community members who share their time as volunteers. This year 1,104 volunteers -- nearly 40% more than in 2015 -- logged more than 12,500 hours in supporting ArtPrize galleries, educational programming, events production and visitor services. Their time spent behind the scenes and face-to-face with our visitors, representing the welcoming and hospitable spirit of our event and city, is an integral part of ArtPrize. Thank you to Lake Michigan Credit Union for their financial support of this important community program.
ArtPrize is proud to offer two membership programs -- ArtClub and ArtFan -- to the community. Membership is a way for community members to support ArtPrize while enjoying benefits that facilitate involvement with ArtPrize in many ways. The 2016 ArtPrize membership programs were comprised of nearly 1,000 art lovers and community leaders (a 40%+ increase over 2015) who serve as ambassadors to the annual event.
CITY OF GRAND RAPIDS
City government played a critical role in the success of the 2016 event, from planning to execution. Through this collaborative effort, clean safe streets, beautiful public parks and the wide availability of public transportation options are possible at ArtPrize. The City served as a Parking and Mobility Partner for ArtPrize. Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. underwrote curation of outdoor city sites.
ARTPRIZE COMMUNITY ASSEMBLY
As a part of a three-year strategy moving toward the 10th anniversary of ArtPrize in 2018, the organization developed the ArtPrize Community Assembly (ACA). Meeting quarterly, this key ArtPrize stakeholder group is designed to bring together invested community members to reflect, share feedback and thoughtfully inform the short, medium and long term goals of ArtPrize.
